Quartzology™: The Nature of Quartz
Reinventive Product Design
The genius of Silestone® Quartz is its ability to reinvent itself.

For the Cosentino Company, the directives are clear:

.Stay at the forefront in product innovation.
.Refine every design offering for sophistication and functionality.
.Do so in a way that stays relevant and valuable to stakeholders and users.

The ideal solution is found in Cosentino's flagship brand, Silestone Quartz. Silestone is a sophisticated product that, by definition, is multi-dimensional in functionality and can reinvent itself to constantly stay "on trend" with styles to meet people's changing interests and attitudes.

Unique Textures
To the touch, Silestone has proven to possess the dynamism needed to revolutionize texture. Launched in its original polished finish, Silestone reinvented itself, yet again, in 2006 with an exclusive new look and feel in Silestone Leather™. Silestone Leather was inspired by the matte, smooth texture of natural leather and fulfills the demand for a honed stone appearance, while always featuring the unparalleled durability that is legendary to Silestone.

Color and Depth
First introduced 20 years ago in 12 original colors, Silestone has evolved its color palette over and over leading to more than 50 color selections. Each color is carefully designed and formulated to please the eye while simultaneously matching the most current trends in fashion and style.

In addition to the myriad hues, Silestone offers a wide array of options based on depth of color and dimension. This design flexibility ranges from a single-mixing color process that results in a more homogeneous look, to Cosentino's three-dimensional color process for added depth and finally the most exclusive, innovative five-dimensional color process that provides a higher index of refraction for yet more richness of color.

Composition and Pattern
Silestone colors vary not only in hue, from the most subtle neutral shades, to the rather brilliant and dynamic tones; Silestone has also reinvented its spectrum of patterns. From its solid, homogeneous patterns to its color selections filled with movement with varying size quartz gemstone particulates and other enhancement materials.

And the possibilities to add different components are virtually endless. Such as, the enhancements of glass and mirror featured in the Stellar Series, the large grains of quarried quartz in the Mountain Series and the sanded mirrors in the Cielo Series... always arriving at a new and unique quartz design that is fashion-forward.

Versatility
The look, the touch, the feel, is but the basic ingredients in a sophisticated formula of development and design. Cut, Silestone offers virtually unlimited possibilities in terms of applications. Ideally suited for kitchen countertops, Silestone is also excellent for bathroom vanity tops, table tops, floors and even shelving. On a vertical line, Silestone makes for excellent backsplash designs, shower walls and other wall cladding, giving the end-user the power to continue reinventing their spaces with Silestone Quartz.
The Cosentino tradition began 70 years ago in Almeria, Spain, where the Cosentino family began operations in the stone industry. Sixty years later, the advent of the natural quartz surfacing industry added a new dimension to the company and would eventually lead sales to the American market with Silestone.

Cosentino USA was established in 1998 to distribute and market Silestone natural quartz surfaces in North America. As the quartz surfacing pioneer in the United States, Cosentino USA is reshaping the traditional American way of thinking when it comes to surfacing design. With five production lines, Cosentino is the largest manufacturer of natural quartz surfaces in the world, giving Cosentino USA access to the largest inventory.

Cosentino USA leads the quartz surface category in the United States on all fronts.
Silestone sales account for 75 percent of the U.S. quartz market.
Cosentino is headquartered in Stafford, Texas, and maintains a strong presence across North America through its distribution, marketing and sales networks.

Through superior strength, incredible beauty and an unparalleled distribution network, Silestone® is rapidly becoming the choice for discerning consumers.

Natural Beauty
Silestone offers a sophisticated elegance and timeless beauty. The natural quartz in Silestone delivers distinctive depth, brilliant clarity, glimmering radiance and a cool, solid feel unique to natural stone.

Versatility
Silestone can be used in virtually any indoor surfacing application in kitchens, bathrooms and floors, including: countertops, island tops, vanities, tub and shower surrounds, backsplashes, walls, wet bars, tabletops, desktops, fireplace surrounds and more.

Widespread Availability
Cosentino has built a reliable network of dedicated distributors who deliver Silestone and provide services throughout North America, including all metropolitan areas in the United States, several regions in Canada and now expanding into Mexico and Puerto Rico.

In North America, Silestone is available through approximately 3,500 retailers including The Home Depot®, e-counters.com, as well as a variety of kitchen and bath retailers, cabinet shops, tile/flooring outlets, designers' showrooms, architectural firms, builders, and more.

Scratch-Resistance
The quartz in Silestone makes it naturally scratch-resistant. Only three other natural minerals - diamond, sapphire and topaz - are harder than quartz. Quartz is a seven on Mohs Hardness Scale (diamond is a 10).

So, while a careless slip of the knife will scratch most other countertops such as laminates and solid surfaces, it won't leave a mark on Silestone. Although Silestone is durable, it is not scratch-proof; it could be damaged with excessive force or pressure.

Stain-Resistance
Silestone is non-porous and therefore it is highly resistant to stains from coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar, makeup, and many other common household products. Unlike granite, Silestone does not need to be sealed to keep its lustrous shine.

Scorch-Resistance
Unlike solid surfaces and laminates, Silestone is scorch-resistant. It will withstand limited exposure to heat without burning or scorching. The fire of a lit match will not mar Silestone. However, as advised by crock pot and electric skillet manufacturers, do not place these items directly on any countertop. Always use trivets when placing hot items on any natural stone or quartz surface to avoid thermal shock.

Strength
Silestone® has four times the flexural strength of granite, making it less susceptible to chipping and cracking during transportation and installation.

Maintenance-Free
Because it is non-porous, Silestone does not need to be sealed. Granite, marble and limestone, on the other hand, must be sealed on installation and resealed regularly to prevent staining. Silestone is a maintenance-free star compared to solid surfaces that may require rigorous maintenance to clean up tough stains, scratches and scorch marks.

Colors and Edges
Silestone is available in a wide array of dazzling colors, from conservative neutral hues, to daring bright colors, ensuring that there is a Silestone color to suit most any style or taste. Silestone delivers a uniformity and consistency that allows for virtually unlimited edge designs.

Experience and Professionalism
Silestone is available through a mature network of dedicated distributors and fabricators backed by the experience of Cosentino with more than 70 years in the natural stone industry. Plus, Certified Silestone Installers are trained through a unique curriculum that includes expert, hands-on training.

Innovation
Silestone leads its category in innovative ideas for a product that already is known for its ingenious physical properties and customer benefits. Silestone offers the most colors in natural quartz; the most innovative sink installation methods, such as integrated, flush- and bevel-mounted; and the latest, newest products such as the exclusive Silestone® Leather™ with Microban®.

Reliability
Silestone natural quartz surfaces result from a tightly controlled process to ensure reliable performance, color consistency and ultimate durability every time. Cosentino backs its Silestone slabs with a limited 15-year manufacturer's warranty.

SIlestone
A Cleaner, Safer Countertop
Silestone® Quartz. A Cleaner, Safer Countertop

Multi-dimensional functionality makes Silestone® Quartz a Cleaner, Safer Surface for your home. Silestone offers the unique combination of built-in Microban® antimicrobial product protection, National Sanitation Foundation certification and GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification.

Microban protection inhibits the growth of microbes such as odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew. While Microban protection does not protect users from foodborne illness and is not a substitute for normal cleaning practices, it does result in countertops that are easier to clean and stay clean.

Certifications by the National Sanitation Foundation and the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute mean Silestone Quartz is a Safer Surface for areas where food preparation takes place, while protecting the quality of your indoor air quality because it has low-to-no emission (off gassing) of toxic chemicals into the indoor environment.

Silestone is GREENGUARD certified for low emitting interior building materials, furnishings, and finish systems used in educational (daycare and K-12) environments. All GREENGUARD Children & Schools products have been tested for their chemical emissions performance.
